Responsibilities

The psychometrist provides direct patient care under the supervision of staff neuropsychologists. The psychometrist is trained to administer a range of neuropsychological testing, including scoring and completing behavioral observations, to adult patients while adhering to all policies and procedures and ensuring patient safety. The psychometrist will follow all regulations and guidelines for clinical and research assessments. Other responsibilities include maintaining good supply of testing materials and scoring software, monitoring the neuropsychologists’ appointment schedules, and support the neuropsychologists with a number of other administrative tasks. The psychometrist will also play a vital role in Mayo Clinic’s Healthy Action to Benefit Independence and Thinking (HABIT) program and is expected to administer cognitive screeners, provide memory support system (MSS) training, and manage various coordination duties for the Midwest region. Work location rotates between the La Crosse and Onalaska Mayo Clinic Health System locations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology or related field. Previous testing experience preferred but not required.Demonstrates the ability to quickly and accurately score complex test protocols and make astute, pertinent behavioral observations. Attention to detail is a critical strength.

• Relates to patients and patient-related situations in a calm, sensitive, and empathic manner in order to establish and maintain patient cooperation and optimal performance.

• Coordinates with the psychometry team to create weekly staff schedules.

• Works with the psychometry team to monitor and promptly respond to patient/prospective patient emails related to HABIT.

• Learns quickly and is adaptable to the changing needs of the department as this position plays an integral role in supporting the Neuropsychologists and ensuring the success of the neuropsychology department.

$22.85 - $32.97 / hour; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
