PURPOSE: The J&J Medtech Global Manager, Strategic Skills is a key role in our Strategic Skills Organization for the MedTech business. This role will help shape, lead, and implement learning and development programs for upskilling our MedTech Commercial organization in alignment with the global agenda. This person will work closely with the commercial teams, including leadership, to identify skill development training needs. The current curricula include selling skills (basic/sophisticated), negotiation skills, marketing (BIG PICTURE), launch excellence (LEX), and digital skills. The person in this position will work with our global stakeholders to implement any regional-specific requirements for flawless execution and implementation. Special focus will be put on the ability to lead our training programs in the key strategic skills specific to capital selling, service selling, emerging development of our commercial leaders, and general digital skills.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and conduct training sessions, both virtual and in-person, to deliver engaging and impactful programs.

  • Collaborates and executes with our cross-functional partners, including regions and business units to ensure training objectives are met with consistency and in compliance with the commercial model transformation strategy.

  • Ensures flawless implementation and delivery of current WW skills curricula and training programs (LEX, Selling Skills, Leadership Programs, etc.).

  • Develops and creates new future strategic skills curricula specifically in the capital, digital, service selling, and instructional design approaches

  • Ensures adaptation of the latest Learning Technologies and pilots innovative learning approaches.

  • Builds education skills strategy in alignment with our MedTech Business leaders to drive growth agenda.

  • Deploy metrics to measure the effectiveness of training to improve performance.

  • Develop and execute a change management plan for the evolution of sales methodologies on a global scale.

  • Collaborate with the Director to plan and direct complex activities on a global scale for business impact.

  • Lead in identifying risk, developing mitigation strategies, alternative solutions, resolving issues, etc. in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Cultivate strong relationships and effective communication with key stakeholders to align goals and objectives.

Other Duties:

  • Works closely with the J&J Learn team (Global Talent Management) and the business HR function to align and use all initiatives and resources.

  • Prioritizes new digital skills development to empower future launches in J&J’s new Robotics & digital surgery portfolio (e.g. Velys, Monarch, etc.)

  • Actively searches for “outside-in” input from external L&D experts, new technology players, academics, innovation platforms.

  • Work with Director on key strategic projects as needed for upskilling development.

Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Educational background in Learning & Development / Organizational Change management is a plus.

  • 6-8 years leading in the areas of Learning/Education, Marketing and/or Sales.

  • Experience in the Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, or Healthcare Technology business environment is an extra asset.

  • Experience in large multi-national corporations in roles with a global scope or matrix management required.

  • Consistent track record in understanding business strategy; and translating it into solutions that support the company’s business goals.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage cross-functional partnerships and projects, including people who may be working in locations in the US and outside the US.

  • Excellent communication skills, business acuity, strong leadership, and analytical skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree or MBA preferred

  • Experience working with different regions worldwide

  • Experience working with capital or digital products and the skills needed to be successful for business growth

  • Understanding of omnichannel learning strategy

  • Field sales trainer or management experience is a plus.

  • Experience in process excellence and process thinking and application.

  • Proven ability to influence and partner with diverse multi-functional and global teams

  • Collaborative and consultative, with the capacity to adapt style to fit various partner personalities (cross-cultural)

  • Open to others’ opinions. Candid. Willing to engage in debate

  • Enjoys situations that require change and transformation, and the opportunity to challenge the status quo

  • Aspires to move into business and commercial leadership roles

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : 5 years of people management experience preferred

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS : Overnight travel may be required up to 30%

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $99,000 to $170,200. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

  • Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.

  • Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

  • This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s long-term incentive program.

  • Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

  • Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

  • Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year

  • Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
