New York State Job Bank PRINCIPAL ACCOUNT CLERK in Norwich, New York
Chenango County's Department of County Auditors has an opening for a PRINCIPAL ACCOUNT CLERK. This is complex clerical work involving responsibility for independently performing difficult and responsible account keeping functions. Some incumbents also have responsibility for planning, assigning and supervising major account keeping activities. The incumbent operates a personal computer or computer terminal to create computerized spreadsheets and to enter and retrieve a variety of account records and financial data. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level employee with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out the details of the work. This class differs from that of Senior Account Clerk by the more difficult and complex nature of the assignments and the independence allowed in carrying out the work, oversees and assists in the classification of a complex variety of receipts and expenditures and the distribution of costs according to prescribed codes. Does related work as required. <p> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER: <li>(A) Possession of a Bachelors Degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field; OR <li>(B) Completion of 60 credit hours which must have included at least 9 credit hours in accounting or bookkeeping and two years of full-time paid experience or its part-time equivalent in the compilation and maintenance of financial accounts and records; OR <li>(C) Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four years of full-time paid experience or its part-time equivalent in the compilation and maintenance of financial accounts and records; OR <li>(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C) above. The position has a 35 hour work week and a 2025 annual salary of $45,500 and includes a full benefits package.<p> No Civil Service examination required.
