Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Production Operator to join our team. You will be expected to work in all areas of production or distribution and operate equipment on lines at least 50% of your working hours. The ideal candidate will be responsible for making equipment adjustments, performing major production line changeovers, handling powerful rare earth magnets, and completing special packaging projects as scheduled. You will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, training others, and working with production planning to determine efficient schedules.
Responsibilities
Operate equipment on production lines for at least 50% of working hours.
Make necessary equipment adjustments to ensure a quality finished product.
Perform major production line changeovers without assistance from maintenance staff.
Handle powerful rare earth magnets.
Complete special packaging projects as scheduled.
Maintain equipment according to SOPs and preventative maintenance schedules.
Train others to perform the job effectively.
Work with production planning to determine efficient production schedules.
Case and palletize finished products for inventory.
Operate material handling, packaging, and processing equipment.
Sample products for quality control checks.
Visually inspect materials and supplies for defects and report defective materials or questionable conditions.
Complete necessary documentation including worksheets and computerized tracking systems.
Verify accuracy of products and supplies.
Disassemble, clean, and reassemble machinery.
Use assembly, packaging, and measuring tools.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve problems.
Work with Quality Assurance to monitor Statistical Process Controls and other quality-related issues.
Ensure food safety and quality by monitoring critical control points and reporting non-conformances.
Proactively communicate continual improvement suggestions.
Follow safety, sanitation, production, quality, and food safety procedures.
Strive to reduce waste, recycle products, and reuse resources.
Work safely at all times, follow safety rules and policies, and participate in scheduled training.
Report injuries and near misses promptly and propose corrective actions.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
1+ year of experience in production, warehouse, or manufacturing.
Ability to stand for 8+ hours a day.
Ability to lift 50 lbs+ frequently.
Experience operating computer systems.
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Attention to detail.
Ability to read and comprehend moderately detailed instructions, operating procedures, and safety rules.
Ability to work with a team.
Ability to perform repetitive motions.
Proficiency in using hands and/or fingers to type, handle, or feel.
Ability to stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and 100 lbs occasionally.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group situations.
Ability to train others in general manufacturing.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma (HSD) or GED.
Ability to operate (or learn to operate) various types of machinery.
Ability to read and comprehend moderately detailed instructions, short correspondence, or memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one and small group situations with a limited group of people.
Attention to detail and ability to work within a team concept.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $25.00/hr.
