Job Description

As a fast-paced and growing hotel investment and operating firm HEI is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Analyst to join its Operations team based out of our corporate headquarters in Norwalk, CT. The group supports our hotels, regional teams and corporate functions protect our owners’ interests and create sustainable real estate value. As an analyst in this group, she or he will be actively involved in the value creation and organization process across the company including investments diligence, operations, design & construction, profit contribution, finance and owner relations.

The position will work closely with the Chief Strategy Officer and Director of Strategic Planning to ensure compliance in accordance with hotel management agreements as well as HEI rhythms, objectives and Standard Operating Procedures. The position will support the legal, compliance, investments, operations and reporting objectives of the Strategy group. The Analyst is an integral part of the team in assessing opportunities and improving enterprise-level value-enhancement programs.

Responsibilities

Job Functions

  • Assist with analysis of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial and other operating results and reporting processes including preparation of data and presentations, improving reporting to company leadership

  • Assist in building, improving and ensuring accuracy of HEI’s management fee model and other fee structures such as Franchise Fees as contained in the Hotel Management Agreement and Franchise License Agreement

  • Summarize and track terms from the Hotel Management Agreement and interpret those terms to build financial models and organize processes

  • Support HEI’s profit contribution efforts on a portfolio-wide basis

  • Support the organization and collection of hotel legal documents, licenses, permits and contracts utilizing HEI’s internal database with review for portfolio-level efficiencies, accuracy, and favorable terms

  • Maintain HEI’s renovation calendar for the corporate office

  • Communicate and maintain relationships with various internal and external stakeholders critical to the company’s success including vendors, owners, attorneys, etc.

  • Assist with transitions, tax setup and monitoring, liquor license processes and legal compliance.

  • Provide ongoing support maintaining existing spreadsheets.

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis or other analytical projects to support the group directive.

  • Comply with company policy as defined in the Corporate Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

Desired Experience and Skill Set

  • B.S. from an accredited college or university required.

  • Absolute proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required. VBA experience a plus.

  • 0-1 years of relevant analytical experience required.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.

  • Critical thinking skills with ability to formulate an idea into a vision and develop it from initial stage to completion.
