If you are looking for a great opportunity to utilize your experience and training in the field of Psychology, we have the position for you!  Norristown State Hospital is seeking a hardworking, passionate, and caring Psychological Services Specialist, DHS to make a positive difference in the lives of consumers that reside at the facility.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Psychological Services Specialist, you function with considerable independence to provide psychological services to an identified caseload of the individuals who reside at the facility. You also exercise considerable initiative in fulfilling the requirements of the job and function as a member of interdisciplinary treatment teams, as well as function as a member of facility and statewide work groups as assigned.

As part of your responsibilities, you will be providing direct care to patients in assigned units, ensuring the provision of the highest quality of treatment and therapeutic opportunities that improve the quality of life for each individual's recovery needs. Moreover, you will handle routine problems independently and escalate larger issues beyond your scope to the psychology director or supervisor for resolution.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. May change based on operational needs. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A master's degree in a behavioral science, counseling education, rehabilitation, human development or a closely related field. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
