We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Accounts to join our dedicated team.

Job Summary

The Manager of Accounts will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations related to student accounts, including billing, collections, and financial reporting. This role requires a thorough understanding of bursar functions within a higher education setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to our students and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Accounts department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in billing, collections, and financial reporting.

  • Oversee the processing of student accounts, including tuition fees, room and board, and other related charges.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee with the Financial Aid office to coordinate the disbursement of financial aid funds to student accounts.

  • Monitor accounts receivable and implement strategies for effective collections and reducing outstanding balances.

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including account reconciliations and aging reports.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, parents, and other stakeholders, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.

  • Train, mentor, and supervise a team of accounts professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in bursar and higher education financial management.

    Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA designation is preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 3 years in a bursar or higher education setting.

  • Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance in higher education.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft, Workday).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality customer service.

  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and developing a team.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
