Watts is looking for an innovative Commodity Manager to drive efficiencies and maximize leverage throughout the organization. The leadership team recognizes a tremendous opportunity to execute year-over-year cost savings related to materials cost. This position will serve a dual role as the Sourcing Lead for Watts Regulator and Commodity Manager for assigned commodities. The individual will develop and execute Strategic Sourcing initiatives for assigned commodities.

Position will reside in Mexico. Preferred Location: Monterey, Mexico City, Guadalajara

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Identify, develop and manage supply base in Mexico. Over time this could expand into Latin and South America.

  • Analyze spend data, develop & implement assigned commodity strategy to achieve year-over-year savings as established by Management.

  • Tactical sourcing support for multiple operations.

  • Support Dual Sourcing initiative.

  • Lead in the negotiation and implementation of projects for assigned commodities.

  • Work with the Engineering, Operations, and Global Commodity team to identify viable world-class suppliers that can deliver appropriate supply solutions.

  • Build strong understanding of product and create a “savings project pipeline”. Develop superior working knowledge of assigned commodities and associated markets.

  • Communicate periodic results and manage continuous improvement with awareness of industry performance benchmarks and on-going push to becoming a fully integrated lean organization.

  • Maintain strong relationships with Value Engineer, Quality Engineer, and other associated functional team leaders for purpose of developing, assisting, and leading various project groups.

  • Communicate activities effectively with suppliers, internal customers and corporate partners.

  • Develop working knowledge of company’s software systems (SAP, QAD, SourceDay, etc)

EDUCATION:

  • BS is required; degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering a Plus and MBA or APICS/ISM Certifications are both preferred.

MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISON:

  • Ensure company policies are followed.

  • Enforce company safety policies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must be Bilingual in English & Spanish

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, or a related field.

  • 7 years’ experience in manufacturing (industrial/commercial) with a strong understanding, credibility, and comfort to work with front line operations management and cross-divisional, cross-functional teams.

  • Commodity experience in castings, forging, machining, injection molding, stampings etc. and product lines (highly engineered mechanical components).

  • A history managing direct spend and establishing measurable improvements in year-over-year savings.

  • International commodity sourcing experience in Mexico, Latin and South America, USA

  • Experience with machine parts/Blueprint Reading and both Domestic and International sources.

  • Project Management Experience particularly with Supplier Transitions within a manufacturing organization embracing a Lean/Six Sigma transformation.

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, QAD, SAP, SourceDay as related to Purchasing

  • Estimated Travel 50%
