Atlantic Health System Security Officer II in Newton, New Jersey

Job Functions of the Security Officer II:

  • Function as the shift supervisor when as assigned.

  • Work a variable schedule as required.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication. Completes and submit reports as required. Advise other officers, supervisors and other shifts of pertinent information in a timely manner.

  • Respond appropriately to all internal, external emergency codes and special events. Maintain certification in RCT. Demonstrate knowledge required to respond appropriately to all codes and emergencies.

  • Complete Performance Evaluations for Security Personel

  • Administrative Duties as outlined below:

  • Reviewing incident reports for accuracy.

  • Department scheduling (W2W Manager); shifts, training, classes, etc.

  • Officer Training material, updates & file maintenance

  • New Officer Orientation, Training packet dissemination, monitoring and completion

  • Department ordering, office supplies, invoice management

  • DVR & NVR; Checklist monitoring and file maintenance

  • Vendor, Service requests; Locksmith, Structureworks (cameras & card access)

  • Forensic Patients (Z4 form) management

  • IMC electronic file management

  • Simplex monitoring (combination/code access), secure staff areas and med rooms

  • Completes thorough follow-up investigations on incident reports, as directed.

  • Process ID Badge requests, providing or adding card access to new and current Team members. Process requests for replacement Photo IDs badges (Job title/name change, transfers, damaged, lost, stolen). Report immediately any misuse and/or abuse of ID Badge/Access Control to security management.

  • Maintain proficiency in the use of security technology as available at the assigned site including AHECN, IMC, C Cure , Prosec and Telecomm duties in a Communication Failure.

  • Maintain proficiency in DECON operations- instructor .

  • Perform Site Based and Off-Site Risk Assessments

  • Conduct Training to AHS Team Members

The following duties are additional responsibilities of the Security Officer II:

Coordinate the following weekly/ monthly:

  • Panic alarm checks – Weekly

  • PROSEC (infant Security) tests, with staff - Weekly

  • Elevator phone tests - Monthly

  • Fire watch & patrols (when applicable)

  • Media events, escorts, standbys.

LEVEL I - 0-3 years of prior experience - High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelors' Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. All legally/reasonably expected certifications needed for function and level. Work assignments are straight-forward and of moderate complexity. Makes decisions regarding own work, approach, and priorities. Typically receives detailed instructions on work, approach and priorities. No leadership responsibility.

LEVEL II - 3-5 years of prior experience - Associates/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. All legally/reasonably expected certifications needed for function and level. Work assignments are varied and require interpretation and independent decisions on course of action. Makes decisions regarding own work methods. Requires minimal direction. Seeks guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures.

LEVEL III - 5+ years of prior experience - Bachelors' Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. All legally/reasonably expected certifications needed for function and level. Regularly exercises independent judgement on matters of significance within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions/approaches. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components and completion of own tasks/responsibilities of substantial complexity. Work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. May model/mentor and teach staff within own function or family.

LEVEL IV - HS Diploma or equivalent. Bachelors' Degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. All legally/reasonably expected certifications needed for function and level. Leads complex projects/activities on regular basis. Determines daily priorities for work group; provides guidance/assists staff on non-routine/escalated issues. Requires little instruction on day to day work and general direction on more complex tasks and projects. Provides work guidance over a function, including checking and assigning work, to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
