Job Summary:

The Tax Analyst I is accountable for assisting with the compliance of federal, state and local tax laws and is accountable for the filing of assigned federal and state income, premium, franchise and other tax returns. This position will contribute to the company's payroll tax compliance as well as Federal & State tax laws. This position will also ensure compliance with the internal control requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the calculation of monthly and quarterly tax provisions and deferred tax adjustments, on both a SAP and GAAP basis on a timely basis.

  • Analyzes and reconciles all tax-related general ledger accounts to assure accuracy.

  • Assists with collecting information required for Federal & state tax audits.

  • Assists in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax disclosures as required by SAP, GAAP or SEC regulations.

  • Ensures that all assigned tax returns are completed and filed on a timely basis, including all estimated tax obligations.

  • Researches, interpret and develop procedures to maintain knowledge and comply with all Federal & State tax regulations.

  • Assures compliance with the internal control requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, including reviewing and updating internal control documentation and periodically testing internal controls.

Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED required.

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance with a focus on accounting and/or taxation preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree.

  • This is an entry level position; recent college graduates will be considered.

Knowledge:
  • Basic technical knowledge of Federal & State tax laws & regulations.

  • Basic knowledge of tax reporting requirements.

  • Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) a plus.

  • Proficient knowledge of PC's and Windows based software including exposure to tax compliance applications.

  • Prefer knowledge of automated accounting systems.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated aptitude for analytical thinking and the ability to report findings in a clear and concise manner.

  • Strong PC skills.

Salary Range:

$54,600 - $73,080

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
