Michael Baker International Bridge/Structural Engineering Designer in Newark, New Jersey

As a part of our Structural Design Team, the Bridge/Structural Engineering Designer will help deliver outstanding bridge design services.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations using Midas, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, STAAD, and other similar software tools
Develop structural details and construction plans using MicroStation or AutoCAD
Assist and check design calculations performed by others
Prepare geometric layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations
Build and maintain critical relationships within the organization and with clients such as the New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey Turnpike Authority and the Port Authority of NY and NJ.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with 0 - 2 years of bridge related design experience. Master's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structures is desired.
EIT Certificate
Prior internship experience with and understanding of AASHTO LRFD design and complex structural analysis software such Midas including and CSi Bridge is required.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation is also required.
Experience with road and/or rail bridge rehabilitation design, seismic analysis, and rating analysis is desired. Additional transportation/infrastructure agencies located in the Northeast is also desired.
Project involvement with multiple disciplines such as roadway, drainage, geotechnical, environmental, etc.
Must have strong written and verbal communications, excellent organizational skills and strong design skills with a willingness to help with proposal efforts.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite is required.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 annual. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
