Job Title: Volunteer Services Associate

Division - Department: Division 50 – Behavioral Health Services

Job Classification: Union L215, Non-Exempt – 20 Hours weekly

Supervisor: Director of Community and Recovery Services

JOB PURPOSE

The Volunteer Services Associate is responsible for assisting with recruiting, training, managing & recognizing the efforts of our volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator will also oversee the communication to and the coordination of certain volunteer events and manage a team of volunteers.

SCOPE OF INFLUENCE

  • Internal stakeholders: Center for Recovery & Wellness staff

  • External stakeholders: community members, people in recovery, recovery and service-oriented organizations (for referrals, sharing resources, etc.)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure volunteer shifts are adequately staffed.

  • Conduct and/or arrange for volunteer orientation and training daily Maintain Volunteer Service Descriptions for each volunteer assignment in Volunteer Services.

  • assist and participate in volunteer parties and other special events Maintain accurate records for CRW and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation

  • Ensure all volunteers understand, and are heeding, volunteer work requirements and the volunteer code of conduct Interview and place applicants for volunteer work Host and attend recruiting events within the community to attract qualified volunteer candidates

  • Develop and maintain relationships with other volunteer organizations

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers Special Events/Holiday/Project Management Assist in planning for Food Pantry and major events including the holidays by defining volunteer needs, sourcing extra recruits and managing the project in Volunteer Hub

  • Develop volunteer communication materials and guidelines to be used for events sponsored by Center for Recovery & Wellness.

  • Actively identify and support linkages to community resources that support the community.

  • Identify barriers to accessing community resources and develop strategies to overcome them;

  • Develop relationships with community groups/agencies in partnership with the Center;

  • Adhere to agency and program-specific policies and procedures;

  • Perform any other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Knowledge

  • Associates Degree or above

  • 2-3 years of experience in a Customer Service Environment

  • Experience in supervising a volunteer workforce preferred must have strong interpersonal communications skills, demonstrating cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of constituents

  • Must have strong presentation skills and be comfortable speaking in front of large groups

  • Team player committed to the mission of the Center for Recovery & Wellness

  • We Deliver Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Experience in Volunteer Hub a strong plus

  • Fluent in Cantonese/Mandarin would be a plus
