Job Title: Vice President - Senior Software Engineer

Job Duties: Design, develop and test core API infrastructure, libraries, and frameworks to enable internal and external users to take advantage BlackRock’s API offering. Advocate and assist with the uptake and onboarding of new API services within BlackRock. Teach and share in-depth and advanced knowledge with other employees as adoption of Golang is rolled out further across teams. Generate systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures, improving API governance and raising internal standards. Assist both the API Infrastructure team and internal developers in the Americas region with knowledge sharing and mentoring, enhancing knowledge around BlackRock’s API functionality and contributing to a positive working culture. Utilize key tools like Microsoft's Azure suite of tools for software development, project planning and management in an Agile style and Atlassian's Confluence for writing effective documentation. Communicate with internal and external clients to deliver our API objectives in accordance with our internal and external stakeholders’ needs. Utilize operating-system level tools and services to diagnose and resolve issues with interaction between user-space applications and underlying operations systems. Perform high-level root cause analysis for service interruptions and help bring services back online once a problem is resolved. Number of direct reports may vary.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science and Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technology field; and 72 months experience in the job offered or in a related occupation in Software Engineering for a financial services or financial technology company. Requires at least 48 months of experience involving the following: 1. Java, C++ or any other object oriented languages; 2. Data structures and algorithms; 3. Different messaging paradigms and industry standard software, tools and practices; 4. Agile project management; 5. Database management and data modeling; 6. Git; 7. Azure; 8. Programming languages as well as unit test frameworks in each of the respective languages; 9. Various rpc mechanism including gRPC, protobuf, and json encodings; 10. Cloud-native technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$179,982.00 - USD$215,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
