We're on a journey to build something new! The Vehicle Sales team is building a new research, discovery, and shopping products that can connect customers to their car of choice. Our goal is to simplify the car buying process and our group functions as a start-up within Amazon. We’re looking for an experienced Content Designer / UX Writer who is a fierce advocate for the customer—distilling complex problems into simple, savvy communications. You tirelessly work to understand how customers think and speak to identify language that is both useful and natural. You collaborate with designers, product managers, researchers, and developers to craft solutions that are strategically sound. You quickly become the expert of your domain, proactively gathering research and data about the products and services to which you provide content to inform your decisions. You understand that content is a significant part of the customer experience, and work closely with brand, marketing, and product design to ensure the text, visuals, and interaction achieve a perfect harmony.

Key job responsibilities

Establish, maintain, and improve a tone of voice grounded in the Amazon brand yet adapted to the needs of specific customers.

Craft clear, concise UI text for the digital experience and have a strong influence on how content shows up across the entire funnel, including brand and marketing content.

Create and drive adoption for the content style guides and writing best practices.

Obsess about and anticipate customer needs to write innovative and simplified solutions to complex concepts and ideas.

Influence product strategy, driving mindful discussions with product managers, UX designers, engineers, and stakeholders.

About the team

This role is one of the first on a newly formed team in with a vision to create innovative automotive discovery and shopping experiences on Amazon, providing customers better convenience and more selection. We’re collaborating with other experienced teams at Amazon to define the future of how customers research and shop for cars online.

We are also open to candidates in Arlington VA / D.C. areas.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working with stakeholders to plan and execute programs that are strategic in nature

  • Knowledge of usability principles and techniques

  • Knowledge of best practices for information architecture and design

  • Have an available online portfolio

  • 8+ years of experience creating content and writing UX copy for complex products and services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UX design of complex workflows

  • Highly preferred:

    • Brand experience
    • Agency experience
  • -Automotive experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
