Position Summary

We're looking for a senior sports investment specialist to lead Commercial Design for our GEICO client, across a dynamic and robust sponsorship portfolio.

In this role, this person will be an important part of our GEICO integrated investment team, leading value creation across an overall sports portfolio and individual sport (league and team) partnerships aligned with client business objectives.

This person will work cross-functionally to bring together sponsorship rights and media - in collaboration with media investment leaders - through strategic and creative deal design that drives industry-leading, innovative sports property partnerships at maximum value to our clients.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement commercial strategies to deliver against GEICO objectives in sports sponsorships, including commercial priorities, scenario planning, and creative solutions to add value at both the overall portfolio and individual sport level
  • Identify and prioritize value drivers across all levers to establish best-in-class sports property partnerships aligned to GEICO business objectives
  • Establish and achieve target valuation and budget in partnership with internal team of valuation specialists and sports SMEs
  • Lead commercial scenario planning based on anticipated proposals from league and team properties
  • Steward sports marketplace trends and investment expertise for client teams
  • Provide regular counsel on thought leadership and innovative value creation, challenging team, clients, and sports properties (teams and leagues) to continue to test and learn
  • Build strong relationships and act as credible contact for clients and internal and external property partners
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-agency teams to build industry-leading integrated product
  • Maintain and grow key marketplace relationships, including senior-level contacts across top sports properties
  • Oversee investment plan development and implementation, incorporating necessary and appropriate rationale and research for client buy-in
  • Oversee and take accountability for client budgets and savings stewardship

Required Skills & Experience
  • Experience driving value creation within sports portfolios for marquee brands
  • Strong marketplace relationships with senior salespeople at major sports properties
  • Strong quantitative skills, including analytical and story-telling ability
  • Strong negotiator with a proven track record of innovative value creation and creative deal-making
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data to inform go-to-market strategies
  • High level of comfort presenting to clients and internal team members
  • Solid understanding of sports sponsorship process and the role of Commercial Design in it
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent time management, decision making, communication and organization skills
  • Results-oriented, operational mindset and a willingness to be hands-on with a high attention to detail
  • Willingness to "work up" and "work down" - able to manage projects that require both high level vision and in the weed's execution

Desired Skills & Experience
  • 15+ years of sports partnership experience, with a focus on creative deal-making
  • Experience working with insurance or financial services brands
  • Mediabrands does not require candidates to have a college degree

The salary range for this position is posted below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure and standing with the Company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee's/applicant's skill set, level of experience, and qualifications.

Salary Range
$200,000-$240,000 USD
