About You

Your Day
As a Software Engineer in Yahoo's Observability team, you will specialize in building high performance, high throughput, distributed, and scalable systems that would be capable of handling millions of data points/second in real-time; storage systems handling massive write rates and queries that scan through millions of rows. You will work hand-in-hand with world-class teams of other software engineers and architects to build amazing experiences that will delight our users.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of programming experience using JAVA, Golang, Python or similar languages
- Excellent systems programming development, testing, and debugging skills
- 3 years of experience in software design and development with a focus on large scale distributed systems handling large amounts of data
- 5 years of strong Unix/Linux experience
- 3 years experience using cloud based environments, i.e. AWS, GCP
- Experience with OSS and / or commercial observability tools like Grafana, NewRelic, DataDog, Splunk, Chronosphere, AWS or GCP native telemetry tools
- Experience with Big Data tools like ElasticSearch, OpenTSDB
- Expert skill set integrating diverse API and Web Services
- B.S. in Computer Science good academic background or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of network and security practices in cloud and on-prem deployments
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people, geographically dispersed across the world
- Knowledge and operational experience running large-scale distributed systems

The compensation for this position ranges from $128, 250.00 - $266, 875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
