Organization Overview
The ultimate objective of the work in my laboratory is to understand the cellular and molecular basis of vertebrate embryonic induction,with a special emphasis on germ layer and organ formation. Toward this aim,we perform comparative studies using both amphibian and mammalian model systems,including human embryonic stem cells
Overview
The research assistant will work on a project studying coral stem cells. They will use micropattern technology and other tissue culture techniques to isolate, culture, and propagate coral stem cells.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
Participate in experimental design, data acquisition, and data management
Develop and implement data analysis and visualization strategies, perform statistical analysis and help develop models to understand complex biological phenomena
Assist in development of custom protocols and tools to aid in data acquisition and analysis
Prepare and present research findings to the research team
Assist in upkeep of lab safety standards and daily operations
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Biology, Bioengineering
Demonstrates experience of confocal imaging techniques and equipment
Knowledge in flow cytometry techniques
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Familiarity with scientific research and publication process
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Experience in coral research
