The Trustees of Columbia University in the City of New York Professor of Professional Practice in Control Theory in New York, New York

The Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering welcome applications for a joint Professor of Professional Practice in the area of control theory. Members of the practice faculty are full-time, non-tenure track faculty members who have substantial professional experience.


Candidates for a Professor of Professional Practice appointment are expected to have deep experience in the research and practice of their profession in a non-academic setting such as industry or government laboratories, and to bring this experience to our education and research programs. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or its professional equivalent by the starting date of the appointment. Applicants should demonstrate the potential to conduct pioneering research, to exhibit excellence in teaching, and to incorporate diverse perspectives into teaching and scholarship.

Successful candidates are expected to contribute to the advancement of both their field and the department through an original and leading externally funded research program that contributes to the undergraduate and graduate educational and research missions of the Department. Columbia fosters multidisciplinary research and encourages collaborations with academic departments and units across the university.
