Today Project FIND operates three supportive housing residences that are home to about 600 people and four senior centers with over 3,000 members. Our members and residents range from the healthy and active to the frail and homebound to the homeless. Job Summary:Reporting to the Superintendent, the Porter is responsible for the daily cleaning of the building. The porter position is also the primary person to dispose of trash based on sanitation guidelines. The daily, weekly and monthly schedule for the porter is prescribed by the building superintendent. Please note that this is a union position.General Responsibilities:-Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building. This includes sweeping, mopping floors and-stairs, dusting desks, tables, chairs and other furniture.-Strips, waxes, and buffs floors-Removes garbage from trash cans and compactor and places out for pickup based upon sanitation schedule.-Maintains garbage rooms, trash cans and dumpsters in clean sanitary condition.-Sweeps and cleans sidewalks and planters, hoses sidewalk with pressure washer.-During the winter removes snow and ice and spreads de-icer to prevent slipping.-Cleans rooms by discarding old furniture, beds and other debris.-Prepares rooms for painting, paints rooms and bathrooms-Helps to make rooms move-in ready.-Cleans and polishes floors, installs new furniture and appliances.-Cleaning of roofs-Cleaning of halls, floors and stairs-Dusting of hand rails and supports-Cleaning of hall side of windows and sills-Cleaning of hall baseboard and crowns-During of hall walls and ceiling-Cleaning of interior of elevator cabs, including floor and outside doors-Cleaning of the elevator pit when the elevator has been properly secured by contractor, superintendent or other authorized personnel.-Cleaning of trash compactor, closets, hoppers and slop sinks-Closing of lobby floor, lobby walls-Dusting of lobby furniture-Clean and/or change smoke alarm bulbs in boiler stack providing owner supplies bulbs-Paint touch up in all public areas-When required by employer, all employees shall perform tasks normally associated with and required for proper maintenance and required upkeep of the preemies.-Replace tiles in the kitchen floor, if needed and the entire floor if necessary- Change counter tops when necessary-Change locks on the entrance doors, change door bell, if necessary-Replace the flexible gas lines behind the stoves-Replace all defective electrical outlets, light switches and light fixturesQualifications:-High School Diploma or GED-Ability to sit, walk and stand for numerous hours-Ability to lift packages and other items up to 50 pounds.-Have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the philosophy and mission of Project FIND.-Establish and maintain polite, professional and effective working relationships with all contacts during the performance of duties.-Completion of relevant training program-Good oral and written communication skills.-Be creative and flexible.-Show initiative and be responsible for follow through.-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.-Ability to maintain confidential information, as related to position.-Excellent customer service experience.-Basic level computer skills; Microsoft Word and Excel.-Demonstrated flexibility with ability to change priorities with limited notice including working overtime and being available to work with little notice.Schedule:Monday&Wednesday 10am-7pm and Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday 1pm-10pm. (40 hours per week). Please note this position requires the availability and flexibility to occasionally work some weekends and holidays.Project FIND participates in E-Verify, which confirms employment authorization through an electronic database maintained by the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security. The E-Verify process is completed in conjunction with the Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates.
