News Nation is looking for a New York City based photographer/editor to join our team and work with a part of a correspondent and field producer. The ideal candidate is proficient in shooting and editing video and is equipped to ably partner with a correspondent and producer to craft stories which are engaging, compelling, and accurate. The person must have a strong work-ethic, be a self-starter, a clear communicator, and a team player. Assignments will also often include responding to and covering major breaking news elsewhere throughout the country, international travel is a possibility as well. The role is based in New York with frequent travel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Shoot video for news reports
• Edit reporter packages and elements for television broadcasts and digital use on Adobe Premiere
• Shoot active and dynamic live shots in various settings
• Maintain video equipment and other gear
• Operate portable live unit and ENG trucks in remote situations
• Familiarity with Bit Central & Latakoo helpful but not required
• Short notice travel and schedule flexibility will be required, including weekends
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in communications/journalism or related degree required (equivalent years of experience may substitute for education)
• At least five years of news production experience
• Good communications skills with sound editorial judgement
• Basic knowledge of satellite live truck operation, helpful but not required
• Ability to lift and carry equipment in the range of 50 lbs. in weight
• Promotes teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all network personnel
• Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights, mornings and weekends/holidays
• Must have the ability to travel for work, often with no prior notice
• Must join IBEW Union
• Must have a valid driver's license as driving will often be required
Salary Range: 80,000 – 100,000
