We have a unique opportunity to leverage our consumer relationships and footprint, state of the art technology and leading consumer banking position to deliver customer value in a targeted and impactful way. To continue this mission, we are seeking to hire a Head of Unsecured Lending for the US Personal Bank who will be responsible for

Unsecured Lending products sold across Citi Branded Cards, Citi Retail Services, and Citi Retail Bank including purchase and post-purchase financing, loan on cards, cash loans and personal installment loans, as well as balance build programs.

The successful candidate for this high impact role requires expertise in consumer lending, negotiation, relationship management, strategic thinking, people leadership as well as strong financial acumen and an entrepreneurial mindset. The role will require regular engagement with senior C-suite leaders within and outside of Citi, so communications skills and conviction on deal stance are important attributes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute lending strategy for the US Personal Bank

  • Define and align key priorities by establishing a target client, credit risk, pricing, and fulfilment continuum across the full spectrum of the lending opportunity in North America Consumer

  • Drive the evolution of the lending organization focused on unsecured lending constructs – ranging from traditional mechanism to drive revolving balances, to purchase financing and installment lending.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teammates, including Portfolio management, Risk Management, Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Client Experience, Digital, Operations and Technology to execute on priorities within established operating plans and timelines.

  • Develop value propositions in close partnership with Citi Branded Cards product teams as well as explore new opportunities within Citi as well as with both existing and new partners externally.

  • Achieve growth in lending portfolio, as measured by loans, portfolio yields, net credit margin, return on assets and capital, customer experience/NPS, and share of wallet.

  • Partner with Risk Management to define and optimize risk appetite framework for new customer acquisitions and existing customer balance growth. Coordinate and drive opportunities to test and expand lending into target client segments.

  • Drive development of digital lending strategy and capabilities, including working with external partners and solution providers to transform consumer lending strategy.

  • Partner with Operations and Technology to build, deploy, and leverage world class credit initiation and lending capabilities necessary to deliver on both growth and customer experience.

  • Lead a high performing diverse and inclusive organization. Focuses on building talent and organizational depth.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record as a senior leader in all aspects of business management (strategy, sales, people leadership, operations, financial performance, risk & controls)

  • Proven track record in leading innovation and change, and ability to transform and materially change business trajectory.

  • Direct experience developing and managing customer facing lending solutions, with in-market experience in US a plus.

  • Strategic, analytical, and systematic thinker who consistently challenges the status quo and constructively challenges the team to drive change and continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to build internal relationships with broader stakeholders across a franchise to drive to common goals and outcomes. Ability to utilize available tools and resources to accomplish end goals.

  • Customer first focus with an empathetic and genuine understanding of their needs.

  • Open, transparent, and highly collaborative leader who builds trusted relationships across teams and geographies.

  • Highly intellectual in character requiring exercise of discretion and judgment related to regulatory, risk and compliance recommendations, business capabilities and local legal restrictions.

  • Analytical and conceptual thinker with ability to operate in “white space.”

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work in a matrixed environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree required and masters degree preferred with 15+ years of experience.
