EY Foundry – Strategy Manager

The Foundry is a New York-based team of entrepreneurs, product managers, operators, and strategists who have a proven track record of turning ideas into successful new growth businesses. In April 2016, EY acquired this team out of Highnote Foundry, a venture capital and venture services firm, in order to build and launch new businesses for EY Americas Tax. EY Americas Tax is a leader in corporate tax services and is aggressively pursuing innovation to define the tax function of the future for the world’s largest multi-national corporations.

The opportunity

As a Strategy Manager, you will work with senior Foundry team members to evaluate and pursue new growth and margin opportunities across EY’s Tax business.

Your key responsibilities

You will be responsible for analysing market dynamics and business trends, developing growth strategies, and presenting recommendations for how to advance them. This will involve framing problems, breaking them down into component parts, and evaluating each methodically and thoroughly. You will conduct primary and secondary research, create financial models, evaluate startups and disruptive technologies, and help develop business cases in support of new opportunities.

As growth opportunities are prioritized and funded, you will manage discrete workstreams to support the development of the new businesses.

  • A methodical and logical thinker with strong attention to detail and quality, and proven analytical skills

  • Highly motivated and able to execute independently, with input and guidance along the way

  • Ability to acquire critical knowledge on a new space quickly and identify key business trends, market players, and value drivers in complex markets

  • Passion and curiosity for exploring new technology trends and innovative business models, with an ability to translate into actionable insights that can inform the pipeline of new ventures

  • Strong leadership abilities to manage, motivate, and influence team members

  • Areas of experience and interest include but are not limited to: Platform/product strategy, SaaS and alternative business models, Fintech, Embedded Tax, AI/Generative AI

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Undergraduate degree from a top tier university, graduate degree preferred

  • 5+ years of professional experience in management consulting or corporate strategy; experience in new product or venture delivery a plus

  • Ability to structure problems, conduct analyses, and articulate recommendations

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Impeccable oral, written, and visual communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $127,100 to $233,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $152,500 to $264,800. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
