JPMorgan Chase Director of Software Engineering - SMB Travel Technology in New York, New York

As a Senior Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
Job responsibilities
Define and maintain technical roadmaps to achieve functional technology objectives for SMB Travel technologies
Get hands on, as required, for design, implementation, testing and ongoing code reviews.
Drive execution of software solutions in the general corporate travel management space
Setup design patterns and leverage principles of distributed large scale system design to drive multiple designs within the team.
Drive constant innovation by performing POCs with hands on approach to arrive at optimal design choices and/or approach including selection of tools.
Showcase architecture designs patterns to senior technical stakeholders to seek required buy in.
Develop required functional expertise and drive the product roadmap for given product areas in close collaboration with product managers and the stakeholders.
Navigate complex and/or delicate situations to drive right outcomes for the firm.
Partner with product and business groups, to drive participation, plans, timelines, dependencies and solutions to ensure successful delivery leading to desired outcomes
Manage risk mitigation and risk management across multiple programs and projects to ensure timely communication of potential risks and path to de-risk
Engage people management including coaching, timely feedback to ensure fully motivated staff producing high performance output.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
10+ years of travel technology experience, 5+ years of Travel Management technology experience
Experience with API connectivity for Air (NDC and EDIFACT), Hotel, Rail, Car and GDS supplier content
Experience designing and developing Corporate Account Management and Corporate Traveler Profile systems
Strong background in architecting, designing and developing large scale distributed solutions using cloud based approach.
Recent hands-on experience in designing and driving technical solutions leveraging Java or .Net, AWS or Azure, React and/or Angular on open source technology stacks
Experience building microservices with an API first approach
Understand and convey programming models, technologies, systems and API's that are relevant for stakeholders
Work with product teams regularly to ensure understanding and alignment of requirements and technical solutions
Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Ability to evaluate and identify gaps in development processes and lead teams through adoption of best practices related to software engineering productivity, quality and stability
Track record of leading teams through change by motivating, inspiring and being an example
Ability to frame and communicate complex or abstract concepts in a clear, cohesive framework for all levels of the organization
Track record of managing with a focus on risk and dependency management
