The security lieutenant will be responsible for ensuring that all security policies and day to day operational procedures are followed. Officers will execute on the Corporate Security vision, mission and goals as delegated by the Director of Security.

Job Function and Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop work charts, process payroll, vacation and holiday schedules and time off requests

  • Review and validate overtime and hours worked by the guards

  • Coordinate with Building personnel during emergencies and drills including (but not limited to) assuming the lead as incident manager during fires, medical emergencies, floods, explosions, power outages, bomb threats, suspicious package incidents, emergencies on executive floors, and during all other emergency incidents

  • Supervise uniformed proprietary and contract guard services, ensuring daily operations and existing policies and procedures are being followed.

  • Oversee all building fire and life safety personnel and systems

  • Drive the executive fleet when necessary

Required Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of recent Law Enforcement experience in a supervisory role

  • Willing to work shift work

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and basic applications

  • Possess a valid Driver's License

  • Possess a valid NYC or NYS pistol carry permit

  • Ability to obtain NYC/FDNY Fire Safety Certificate and Local Law #26 Emergency Action Plan certificate within 6 months of hiring and have a solid understanding of this law.

  • Knowledge of Software House C-Cure program would be helpful

  • Corporate Security experience in a large company preferred

  • Ability to think independently, make critical decisions and work with a minimal amount of supervision

  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports as required

  • Must be able to work collaboratively with other departments within New York Life, contractors, outside agencies, etc.
