About the Role:

As a CBRE Conference & Events Manager, you will be responsible for the management of a small team assigned to meetings, conference & events services.

This job is part of the Conference & Events job function. They are responsible for the creation, management, and execution of marketing conferences &events for internal and external clients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.

  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.

  • Serve as primary contact with clients for conference & events forecasts and strategies. Troubleshoot and resolve client inquiries and escalated complaints.

  • Maintain department budget. Approve purchase orders for conference or event supplies as requested by the team.

  • Implement enhancements for event success. This includes making improvements to processes, procedures, and systems. Review reports to measure productivity and present findings to management.

  • Ensure operations and vendors are compliant with location requirements.

  • Accountable for tracking department SLAs, KPIs, and benchmarks. Monitor related performance data and identify solutions for gaps.

  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.

  • Apply knowledge of own discipline and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.

  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.

  • Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.

  • Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

What you will need:

In order to thrive in this role you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field with 4+ years working in the meetings industry in areas such as a planner, travel manager, hotel sales or similar preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred. Has at least 4+ years of formal supervisory experience.

  • Experience working in or with a multi unit environment e.g. hotel, retail, food, etc. across multi-stakeholder, matrixed environments on a global scale to achieve objectives preferred.

  • Understands the sales process, meeting dynamics, support services, vendors, and industry at large.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.

  • Comfortable meeting and engaging with new people. Warm and engaging demeanor. Ability to assess circumstances, empathize and offer help.

  • Apply a high level of attention to detail as well as strong social skills.

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

  • Strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite products. Comfortable with and embracing of new technologies and digital tools. Work in multiple software platforms and learn and retain technical software applications quickly.

  • Ability to work flexible work schedules based on business need.

  • This role requires significant walking and other means of mobility, and standing for extended periods of time. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull and frequently lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Meeting & Events Manager position is $120,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Meeting & Events Manager position is $151,599 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications,and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
