Description We are offering an opportunity for a meticulous Bookkeeper to join our team in the non-profit industry based in New York, New York. In this role, you will work closely with the finance team to manage accounting policies and procedures, handle purchasing and petty cash, maintain accounts payable and receivable, and assist with various financial reporting tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the finance team to manage and enhance all accounting policies and procedures, ensuring a robust internal control system

• Handle all purchasing activities and manage petty cash efficiently

• Assist faculty and staff with order placements as required

• Maintain accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payment of all invoices

• Oversee accounts receivable, collaborate with the tuition management system to assist families with tuition payment issues

• Keep track of all billable items for extracurricular programs including aftercare

• Assist in preparing periodic reporting packages for the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees

• Participate in the annual audit, including preparation of requested schedules, analysis, and confirmations

• Reconcile credit card transactions on a regular basis

• Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include front desk coverage.

The successful candidate will have skills in Account Reconciliation, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, Bookkeeping, Data Entry, Microsoft Excel, Month End Close, Payroll, and QuickBooks. This role offers a contract employment opportunity. Requirements • Proficiency in Account Reconciliation

• Experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP)

• Knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR) procedures

• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations

• Proven experience in Bookkeeping

• Strong Data Entry skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in Month End Close operations

• Familiarity with Payroll procedures

• Proficiency in QuickBooks

• Prior experience in a non-profit organization will be a plus

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred.
