The Assistant General Counsel Privacy & Cybersecurity Attorney will:

  • Provide legal advice to business units regarding cybersecurity laws and regulations, and state, federal, and international privacy laws and regulations.

  • Advise on security incident response policies, assessments, and responses.

  • Advise on data privacy and cybersecurity compliance requirements.

  • Advise on data privacy and cybersecurity issues related to third-party transactions and arrangements, including arrangements with vendors.

  • Participate in cybersecurity and privacy projects as they arise.

  • Advise on the Company's information and physical security policies and practices.

  • Respond to third-party and regulatory questionnaires and inquiries regarding privacy and cybersecurity compliance matters.

  • Monitor legal developments in data privacy and cybersecurity.

  • Perform legal research and write legal memoranda.

  • Gather facts from multiple sources, interact with client areas, keeping them advised of developments and status of all matters.

The role requires:

  • 4-6 years relevant experience in law firm and/or corporate law department

  • J.D. Degree

  • Admitted to the New York bar.

  • Strong oral communication, writing and client facing skills.

  • Knowledge of US and global information security and privacy laws, regulations, standards and best practices, including the NY DFS Cybersecurity Regulation, GLB, HIPAA, GDPR, PCI, FCRA and state laws, including state breach notification laws.

  • Knowledge of related areas including TCPA and CAN SPAM.

  • Experience with privacy and information security best practices, including experience in designing, implementing and improving privacy and information security programs and drafting and maintaining privacy and information security policies and incident response plans.

  • Understanding of emerging cybersecurity and privacy laws, cases and trends as well as new and evolving technologies;

  • Experience working with regulated financial institutions preferred.

  • Attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.
