Description

The Human Resources Department is seeking an Assessment Specialist in the Assessment Services Unit. The Assessment Specialist will work as part of a team that is responsible for developing valid selection processes that ensure the highest quality of candidates for a wide range of Port Authority positions. The Assessment Specialist will be primarily focused on assessments for operations, maintenance , administrative, supervisory, and management assessments and/or police assessments.

The Assessment Specialist acts as a key partner to business leaders across the agency and within the Human Resources Department and provides consultation and support on testing and assessment activities for a broad range of job families. The Assessment Specialist may also provide consultation and support on testing and assessment activities for operations, maintenance, administrative, supervisory, and management job titles.

Note –

  • This is a long-term contract position eligible for benefits.

  • The selected candidate will be required to travel to various Port Authority facilities as needed.

  • This position allows for a “hybrid” work location. The selected candidate will be expected to work at a Port Authority facility three days a week, while two days a week can be worked remotely as circumstances allow.

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Supervisor, Assessment Services Unit, the Assessment Specialist is responsible for a wide range of duties that include but are not limited to the following:

  • Job Analysis

  • Assessment Development (Written, Oral, and Practical tests as well as In-Baskets, Simulations, and Executive Assessments)

  • Coordination of Test Administration

  • Logistics Training for Item Writers and Assessment Raters

  • Statistical Analysis

  • Performance Evaluation/Survey development

  • Analysis Assessment

  • Report Writing

Qualifications:

Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:

  • Master’s degree or above in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or a related field

  • Professional experience in job analysis and test development

  • Knowledge of professional standards related to the use and validation of employment tests

  • Knowledge of statistics

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: able to identify problems and systematically gather relevant information; seek root causes of corrections / data integrity issues

  • Adaptable: willing and able to adjust to multiple tasks and demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity and rapid change

  • Ability to facilitate communication between human resources and business leaders on technical issues Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in time-sensitive situations with a keen attention to detail

  • Ability to work across multiple teams and multiple projects simultaneously in a team-oriented, cross-disciplinary, collaborative environment

  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously to meet staffing requirements Excellent interpersonal and communications skills

  • Proficiency with computer software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Item Analysis Software, SPSS)
