American Express’ Global Advertising & Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing and experiences. We have an ambitious goal: to be the most creative department in the Fortune 500 and we aim to deliver on that by doing work that is both creative and effective. Within GABM sits the Learning, Development, and Communications Strategy team, which manages Amex Marketing U, a unique learning and development program built for marketers, by marketers. Amex Marketing U inspires marketers to develop their career through innovative flexible and adaptable learning experiences and opportunities that foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across the enterprise.

Our team is looking for an experienced analyst who can elevate the work of Amex Marketing U through inspiring and informative communications. The colleague will manage all communications channels for Amex Marketing U, including drafting and editing our internal newsletter – the Marketer’s Feed – acting as community manager for our Slack channel, creating engaging video content, and more. The ideal candidate is a storyteller with an editorial mindset who is passionate about internal communications and eager to use communications to keep marketers excited about our culture of learning. Driven by curiosity, you will be a constant generator of story ideas and able to produce content early and often to support marketing colleagues across American Express and position Amex Marketing U as a best-in-class learning program.

Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end ownershipofthe Marketer’s Feed, a twice monthly internal newsletter meant to engage and inspire marketing colleagues across American Express, including:

  • Designing and building the newsletter in Outlook and integrating images, videos, and text to ensure avisually appealing communication

  • Forward-looking planning to identify featuresand story ideas from internal partners and external resources

  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships acrossenterprise marketing teams to source content to be included in the newsletter

  • Effectively communicating editorial processes for collaborator content, includingcommunication of key dates,milestones, and/ordeadlines

  • Editing and proofreading newsletters for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and conformity with brand guidelines

  • Reviewing data associated with the newsletter to identify areas for improved engagement

  • Primary management of our #global-marketing-community Slack channel, includingproducing and posting weekly ‘Tuesday Tips’and other engaging content

  • Producing social-media style videos highlighting marketing colleagues(e.g., interviews, Day in the Life, etc.) and recapping key Amex Marketing U events

  • Overall communications support for various Amex Marketing U programming/initiatives, including invitation creation and simple design work

  • Assisting with broader Amex Marketing U events when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years of work experience.

  • Superior, detail-oriented verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to bring a story to life

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and various audiences

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to set and meet deadlines

  • Strong copyediting and copywriting skills

  • Previous experience managing a communications strategy and/or with internal communications is a plus

  • Previous experience with video, gif, and/or design creation is a plus

  • Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with a broad range of internal business partners

  • Team player who can work in a collaborative, cross-functional, and highly matrixed environment

  • Works well under deadline pressure with speed and accuracy

  • Experience with the following tools a plus: Outlook, Canva, Camtasia

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
