Pfizer Senior Manager, Global Tax Operations in New York City, New York

The Senior Manager in Tax Operations will take a lead role in driving the efforts of the established cross-functional Public Country-by-Country Reporting ("PCbCR") team. This tax professional will ensure compliant, complete, accurate and timely PCbCR filing as well as facilitate data flow and other support required for overlapping Pillar II analysis. This professional will participate in streamlining and improving the quality and timeliness of the PCbCR reporting processes. This professional is expected to work cross functionally with other groups within the Global Tax organization as well as Investor Relations, Corporate Media, Corporate Governance, Treasury, Controllers, Global Financial Solutions, Commercial and Market Finance, among others.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Public Country by Country Reporting:

  • Team Leadership : Coordinate, prepare and formally submit information included in the reporting submission(s) required by the original PCbCR EU Directive as adopted by each European Union Member State as well as any other PCbCR requirements that may eventually be needed in other jurisdictions applicable to Pfizer. Responsible for complying with all publishing requirements related to Pfizer's PCbCR, dealing with the appropriate regulatory bodies and requirements for posting on Pfizer's Corporate website. Act as point of contact for facilitating responses to internal and external inquiries related to public country by country reporting while following the escalation procedures in place for external inquiries related to Pfizer's tax matters. Applies skills, discipline, technical knowledge to get the job done. Becomes a resource for others. Works independently on assignments using knowledge and work experience to achieve desired results. Determines and pursues courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. Uses a variety of communication tools and techniques to perform responsibilities. Anticipates potential objections and influences others. May be responsible for reviewing the work of others. Applies knowledge of internal/external business challenges to provide recommendations for improvements to and acceleration of the PCbCR processes, including further automation of the information that feeds into PCbCR. Capable of building strong, collaborative relationships, open communication and effective partnerships with global stakeholders.

  • XML : Performs XML tagging of public country by country reporting to ensure compliance with PCbCR regulatory requirements.

  • Regulatory Controls/Coordination of Internal and External Audits : Provides support to internal and external auditors as required.

  • Process Reengineering/Benchmarking : Reviews public country by country reporting disclosures of peer companies and other multinational companies to suggest reporting practices and improvements to Pfizer's disclosures.

  • Ongoing Public Country by Country Reporting Regulatory Landscape : Monitors regulatory and legislative activities related to public country by country reporting requirements in the EU and all other locations where Pfizer operates.

  • Assistance with determining the constituent entity list: Liaise with our Digitax team to ensure the population and classification of constituent entities and FCCS codes are correctly identified in the LEM software for inclusion with our pCbCr data and Pillar 2 calculations.

  • Assistance with creating country level narratives: Gathers appropriate business information and tax positions to prepare narratives to be considered for individual country disclosures. Coordinates the review and sign-off related to this critical portion of the public disclosure. Liaises with TP team to gather entity business activities descriptions.

  • Private Country-by-Country Reporting : Assist with gathering all data needed for the IRS country by country reporting form which will be leveraged for PCbCr.

  • LEM: Oversee the accuracy and completeness of tax data for all company entities within the Tax Hub, including reviewing and maintaining the entity list, ensuring reflection of planning transactions, and conducting quarterly reviews of system fields and derived properties to uphold data integrity and compliance standards.

  • Monitor overlapping workstreams - Ensure that all interdependencies for PCbCr, private CbCr, Pillar 2, safe harbor, quarterly provision and Tax Return compliance are all aligned for forecasting and tax filing purposes.

  • Pillar 2:

  • Assistance with gathering and analyzing information:

  • Assist with various data points needed for the CbC Safe Harbor calculations: Assist with gathering the population and classification of constituent entities, review markets of concern to understand tax provision accounts/ETRs

  • Assist with Tax Planning, Transfer Pricing and Tax Operations groups review and signoff on Pillar 2 model outputs

  • Assist with overall review and communication of Pillar 2 model outputs and implications

  • Ensures consistency between PCbCr and Pillar 2 for overlapping dependencies, this includes CE identification, maintenance of legal entity rollups and safe harbor analysis that is dependent on private CbCr

  • Assistance with special projects

  • Data - assist with data gathering and reporting utilizing SAP, FCCS and other Pfizer technology tools

  • Acts as resource for various Global Tax functions as needed

  • International Tax - Provision and Compliance

  • USTC - Assist with the quarterly model updates for determining GILTI and Subpart F inclusions for selected markets and review entity outputs

  • LEM - Utilize the LEM data base to provide the foundation for all quarterly provision calculations and the Tax Return organizational structure that includes the basis for private CbCr, the Pillar 2 population of returns and safe harbor analysis

  • OIT - Leverage the LEM data base to assist in creating tables needed to determine TB imports (short periods, CTBs, etc.), Review OIT mappings and sourcing templates - adjust as needed, scrub FCCS COA and identify new accounts and revised accounts, gather I/C look through data and intercompany related party transaction data

  • Tax Credits - Ensure that the cash receipt tool is contemporaneous, prepare cash tax information for tax return with details needed for import and audit readiness

REQUIRED BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

  • 7 years' experience in tax operations, combined experience with Big 4 and publicly held multinational companies preferred

  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Excel

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to partner and support others without having a direct reporting relationship

  • Strong organizational skills; manages own time to meet objectives; forecasts and plans resource requirements; must be able to multi-task

  • Ability to carry out responsibilities with a sense of urgency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master in Tax

  • CPA

  • XML knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience with Workiva's W Desk software and SharePoint

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Overtime during the quarters and at year-end is required and throughout the year in order to meet deliverables.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $117,300.00 to $195,500.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.   • The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $105,500.00 to $175,900.00.
