Pfizer Manager, Consolidations and Financial Reporting in New York City, New York

ROLE SUMMARY

This role reports into the Pfizer Core Operations group. Core Operations is part of the Controller's organization in Pfizer and plays a vital role in the collection, consolidation and reporting of financial information for the company as well as the preparation of metrics over various financial reporting areas. The team collaborates with global, market, regional and HQ Business Finance as it relates to various data collection activities (sales, trial balance, inventory markup and supplemental/disclosure data) data submission requirements, systems/process training and financial reporting & analysis (both internal and external).

This position within the Core Operations group is responsible for the review and oversight of key financial schedules/analytics and execution of financial reporting processes that are critical to the consolidated financial reporting both internally and externally for Pfizer. In accomplishing this, the individual in this role will interact with colleagues globally across numerous functions within Pfizer's Finance & Business Operations organization and will be expected to not only execute their job responsibilities with a high degree of integrity and quality, but also be an active contributor to continuous improvement initiatives.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare select high risk financial reporting deliverables and assist Senior Manager in the review and management of monthly and quarterly close activities, including review of consolidated financial statements and selected external disclosures.

  • Lead the preparation of the monthly and quarterly Flash package, requiring coordination across various teams and stakeholders.

  • Lead the preparation and review of the quarterly Balance Sheet analysis.

  • Review external disclosures included in Pfizer's Earnings Release, 10-Q, and 10-K.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to assist in their quarterly reviews and annual audits of Pfizer's financial statements.

  • Ensure internal controls are completed timely and accurately in accordance with SOX requirements and company policies.

  • Support strategic projects including acquisitions and divestitures, financial system upgrades, and implementation of new accounting standards.

  • Partner with key stakeholders to implement CI opportunities to enhance quality, streamline and simplify processes, and improve effectiveness of the close process.

  • Review metrics over financial reporting and communicate risks/opportunities to Core Ops. Management through review of KPI's.

  • Deliver trainings to global stakeholders on financial reporting and consolidation related topics.

Participate in the 10-Q/10-K reporting process:

  • Prepare and review various 10-Q/10-K disclosures, as assigned.

  • Communicate with External Reporting to provide all necessary support and documentation for disclosures, as assigned.

  • Coordinate efforts with Technical Accounting and External Reporting to review the impact of new accounting standards and develop processes to effectively operationalize those standards.

Maintain oversight of the monthly Flash Package reporting process:

  • Lead the preparation of the monthly Flash Package reporting process.

  • Maintain strong controls over monthly and quarterly Flash package reports to ensure financial accuracy and quality of schedules.

  • Lead pre-quarter Controllers meetings, and participate in monthly BU Finance meetings, quarterly Earnings meetings, and related follow-up for assigned areas.

Leads the preparation and review of the quarterly Balance Sheet Analysis Package:

  • Communicate deadlines and status with relevant stakeholders, and ensure deliverables are completed timely and preparers are held accountable for their areas assigned.

  • Present Balance Sheet analysis to management during quarterly review meetings.

  • Provide robust/value-added analysis and review of balance sheet activity (for those accounts assigned) reported in FCCS through interaction with business partners, knowledge of business operations and effective use of financial systems/tools.

  • Continuously evaluate opportunities to improve data quality or process efficiency in the normal course of this work, partner as necessary with process stakeholders.

Support other activities as a member of the overall Core Operations team:

  • Support special projects requiring analytical skills and knowledge of systems and processes related to business acquisitions divestitures, financial systems implementations, and changes in accounting policies, among others.

  • Review and/or prepare metrics over financial reporting for Senior Management with a focus on continuous improvement geared toward improved presentation of data and conveyance of information to Senior Management.

  • Effectively use FCCS reporting tools to support financial analysis and review of cash flow and supplemental reporting data, Flash package deliverables and other assigned areas.

  • Ensure alignment with and address questions from stakeholders and business finance partners regarding reporting issues and analysis of results.

  • Participate in identifying and executing continuous improvement opportunities in order to sustain the move towards 'best in class' processes.

  • Ensure key internal controls are properly identified and functioning as designed, in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.Support interactions and needs of internal and external auditors to ensure the completion of quarterly/annual audits.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting or financial reporting capacity.

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting.

  • CPA or advanced degree.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements and ability to provide guidance to team.

  • Demonstrates business acumen; ability to connect operational effect to business results.

  • Acts with a sense of urgency and is change agile.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize demands effectively.

  • Self-starter who brings energy, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to every responsibility and project.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with a large, multi-national company.

  • Big 4 Auditing Experience.

  • Competency with Financial Close and Consolidation (FCCS), Essbase or other financial reporting/consolidation software.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $109,400.00 to $182,300.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.   • The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $98,400.00 to $164,000.00.
