Position Highlights

In this role, you will contribute to the overall success of Debt Capital Markets in Latin America and the Caribbean ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

  • Work in conjunction with US, Canada, Europe and local DCM teams, Liability Management, Syndicate and Derivatives, as well as the local country Corporate and Investment Banking teams providing holistic coverage to LATAM clients

  • Responsibility for the structuring, marketing and execution of originated transactions as well as staffing projects appropriately for the timely achievement of deadlines

  • Ability to adapt to a constantly evolving business and market environment, constantly generating strategic advice for issuer clients as markets change

  • Guide junior staff in the preparation and constant improvement of marketing materials

  • Represent Scotiabank with corporations in a variety of capacities, including the execution of business due diligence sessions, marketing roadshows, and product-related events

  • Travel regularly to assist and provide direct DCM coverage to client relationships across the region

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk

What You’ll Bring

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in Debt Capital Markets

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related subject required. MBA or equivalent degree an asset, but not required

  • Full fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese (required)

  • Broad knowledge of Debt Capital Markets, Liability Management and Derivatives

  • Strong grasp of the competitive landscape, and the ability to appropriately position the Bank

  • Strong project management skills to ensure appropriate client coverage, with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize work and multi-task with multiple projects

  • Champion a high performance environment by setting a good example for the team and being a team player

  • Advanced experience with MS Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Bloomberg and other applications associated with financial markets

  • The liicenses needed for this position: FINRA’s Series 7, Series 79, Series 63 (candidate needs to be licensed already)
