Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidate: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Health Care Surveyor 2, G20.Non-Competitive: possession of a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State; and two years of post-licensure, specialized professional administrative or professional clinical experience.Substitution: a bachelor's degree in nursing may substitute for one year of post-licensure clinical nursing experience; and a master's degree in nursing may substitute for two years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience.Preferred Qualifications: Ability to actively participate on an interdisciplinary team, accept criticism, and display constant professionalism as a representative of the Department; excellent interview, observational, and writing skills and the ability to translate collected information into legally defensible reports. Experience with the aged and Aging population, especially in the provision of direct patient care as a human services or clinical professional, and an ability to appreciate how the aging process affects outcomes, and flexibility and dedication. Clinical knowledge and experience with Long Term Care and the aging population. Good understanding and use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly work, excel, outlook as well as SharePoint. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test certification and investigatory experience.

Duties Description The incumbent will investigate complaints across facilities in multiple downstate counties, requiring interview, record review, and when appropriate, revisits or re-reviews to ensure compliance. The incumbent will serve a pivotal role in identifying circumstances of immediate jeopardy and function either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team to address health emergencies when needed; and performs the following duties: will translate survey documentation into Statements of Deficiencies and summary reports that are grammatically appropriate and regulatorily sound; review complaint assignments, enter surveillance data into the appropriate software, and upload documentation as appropriate to support survey activity; review facility-developed Plans of Corrections and conduct reviews to assess overall compliance, reporting the results as appropriate and determined by their supervisor.

Additional Comments This position requires travel at times to areas unserved by public transit. Federal Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test certification is required within one year of date of employment.Posted Salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($81,720 - $91,381), a Downstate Adjustment of $3,400, and an additional Geographic Pay Differential of $35,000.This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
