Accrotool, Inc DIE SETTER/OPERATOR in New Kensington, Pennsylvania

SUMMARY

Safely and efficiently set up punch presses/hydraulic presses with tooling or dies for specific jobs. Applies knowledge of layout, product design, machine setup, capacities, and output, and fitting processes while ensuring the highest quality product is provided to our customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set-up and operation of stamping presses. Move, handle and/or load material to presses
  • Ability to transfer the die in the proper manner
  • Ability to setup machinery that meets our quality specifications and adjust machines if specifications are not aligned
  • Set up Peripheral equipment such as guards, conveyors, lubricators, and loading/unloading devices
  • Ability to run our presses at production rate and efficiently that meets all safety and quality standards
  • Be aware of quality standards and ability to identify defects in products
  • Must be able to meet production goals and time deadlines
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of issues on equipment. Collaborate with other operators and toolmakers to achieve optimal production outcomes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for first piece approval and adjust equipment per specification
  • Take measures to protect metal from scratches and other potential imperfections
  • Ensure out going products are in compliance to required specifications
  • Be responsible to maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Daily safety conscious work effort. Notify management of any work-related injuries, safety concerns and(or) near miss incident(s)
  • Participate in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and exhibiting initiative in areas within direct control
  • Must have a willingness and flexibility to adapt to changing business needs, schedule and deadlines and perform other essential duties as assigned in support of operational success

COMPETENCIES/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to successfully pass a post-offer background check, physical and drug screen
  • Exhibits independent thinking and sound judgment, accompanied by proven problem solving/mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with team members and managers/supervisors
  • Excellent time management with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Notifies management of any product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries
  • Participate in all continuous improvement programs by offering suggestions and initiatives in areas within direct control
  • Comply with state and federal law safety regulations in addition to Accrotool health, safety and security procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies and state and federal laws and regulations relating to employment, including promoting a workplace free of discrimination and harassment

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum High School diploma or GED required with 3 -- 5 years relevant work experience. Journey Worker credential in die setting/press operation is preferred.  Internal job candidates may be considered with less direct experience. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The employee will be will be expected to endure frequent standing and occasional walking. Lift and move products as required and/or directed. Ability to communicate effectively on a regular basis. Constant handling, grasping, repetitive motion job tasks requiring continuous eye/hand/foot coordination with good depth perception. Environmental conditions consist of frequent temperature changes.  Up to 50 lb. maximum lifting and carrying on an occasional basis.  Up to 1 0 lb. maximum pushing and pulling also on an occasional basis. Must be able to wear personal protection equipment i.e. earplugs, ear muffs, safety glasses, and safety shoes. The employee must be able to perform the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Overall physical exertion is classified as constant light to medium work.
