Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking Eagleton Science Fellows for the Eagleton Institute of Politics. The Science Fellow reports directly to the Director of the Eagleton Science and Politics Program and to their placement office supervisor in either the Legislature or the Executive Department.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Assists New Jersey State government policy- and decision-makers with the design and implements policies based in sound evidence and innovative approaches.
  • Brings their advanced technical skills to service in state government. The Science Fellow is expected to lead a research project and progress independently, however the Eagleton Science and Politics Program and/or the Science Fellow's placement supervisor will provide close collaboration and research support throughout the duration of the appointment.
  • Attends and participates in stakeholder meetings and conferences.
  • Actively participates in the Eagleton Science and Politics Program professional development curriculum, which includes weekly journal entries, monthly in-person check-ins, conferences, and other events as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD in any natural discipline or engineering or a doctoral-level degree in a health profession.

  • Candidates should demonstrate exceptional critical thinking, communication skills, and an understanding of diverse perspectives.

  • Eagleton offices are located within a historic building with no elevator.
  • The duties of this position regularly involve navigating stairs numerous times a day.
