DATTCO is searching for transportation professional to serve as the Safety Director for our Coach & Tour Division.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of all aspects of state and federal commercial vehicle driver and carrier regulatory safety compliance.

  • Management of compliance programs, staff development, telematics program monitoring, new employee on-boarding and other key duties.

  • Direct supervision of all Safety Dept staff, oversight of safety programs such as training, accident prevention and investigation, analysis of trends and corrective actions, and developing strategies to minimize losses.

  • This position will also build and develop relationships with internal and external partners to further enhance the overall cohesiveness and furtherance of a positive business culture.

Position Requirements:

  • College education or equivalent education via certificate level training or previous employer training/experience pertaining to managerial practices.

  • Minimum five years- experience in a commercial vehicle safety related position with minimum three years- experience as a safety trainer

  • Minimum 3 years- previous employment as a manager within the transportation industry. Previous experience as an owner operator and/or relevant law enforcement, US DOT/FTA experience considered.

  • Must possess a valid CDL with P and F endorsements; with a minimum three years- experience in the operation of motor coaches and/or transit buses with acceptable driving history.

  • Expert knowledge of state and Federal motor carrier compliance regulations for passenger and property carrying industries including drug and alcohol program administration and numerical reconciliations.

  • Must also possess strong interpersonal skills, ability in public presentations, lesson plan/curriculum development, team building, and performance evaluations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Office, accident event recorder/camera systems management, vehicle telematic and electronic logging systems with OSHA and Dept. of Labor familiarity.
