The Job:

Tools & Outdoor (T&O), a division of Stanley Black & Decker, has an opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to provide strategic and operational support to all functions onsite in our unionized New Britain, CT Manufacturing facility. As the Human Resources Manager, you will develop, evaluate, and implement effective human resource management policies, procedures, and programs covering all phases of associate relations ensuring that there is an environment of open and honest communication and mutual cooperation and respect within the workforce. You’ll get to:

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with business stakeholders and union representatives with the highest degree of integrity and discretion

  • Ensure that Human Resources practices are aligned with business goals in the areas of benefits administration, compensation programs, employee relations, HRIS, labor relations, leave of absence management, onboarding, organizational development, payroll, and recruiting

  • Develops appropriate human resource plans in support of key business needs in a dynamic environment

  • Conducts annual reviews of organizational design and talent

  • Consults with leadership in aligning performance management and reward recommendations

  • Implements and monitors adherence to all organization-specific Human Resource-related policies, procedures and practices; Acts as liaison between HR, management and employees regarding HR policies, procedures

  • Advises senior leadership concerning HR matters, recommend programs, activities, goals, and procedural changes as required

  • Counsels employees to improve or correct performance issues and deficiencies

  • Provides the appropriate staffing levels to meet manpower requirements, for both hourly and salaried personnel

  • Develops required controls and programs to meet Employee Resource Group goals and objectives

  • Promotes positive relations between the Company and the community to drive good corporate citizenship

  • Develops and implements effective human resource policies and programs to assist in the maximization of productivity in achieving site goals and objectives

  • Identifies local communication needs and implements programs to ensure that an effective communication program is carried out

  • Works cohesively with all functional organizations (at all levels) to deliver expected results consistently

  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion

  • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully

The Person:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required

  • Minimum of 5+ years of HR experience required

  • Experience in a Union Manufacturing or Distribution environment preferred

  • Experience or exposure to contract negotiations preferred

  • Knowledge of a wide range of Employment Law standards and regulations

  • Executive presence, professional demeanor, and strong business acumen

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications in order to create presentations and spreadsheets
