Specialty Office: Spine Surgery
Schedule : Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Location : 4101 Technology Ave., New Albany, IN 47150. This position will be a hybrid position with 2 or 3 days in the office and vice versa.
Primary Responsibilities:
Authorization Coordination: Facilitate the timely approval of spine surgery procedures by liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients
Documentation Management: Maintain accurate records of authorization requests, approvals, and denials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Insurance Verification: Verify patients' insurance coverage and benefits related to spine surgery procedures to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement
Patient Advocacy: Serve as a point of contact for patients, providing guidance and support throughout the authorization process and addressing any concerns or inquiries
Communication: Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including surgeons, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless coordination of authorization-related tasks
Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve issues related to authorization delays, denials, or discrepancies, advocating for patients' access to necessary spine surgery services
Adherence to Policies: Adhere to organizational policies and procedures regarding authorization processes, confidentiality, and patient rights
Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in authorization management

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
1+ years of customer service experience with strong communication skills both in person and via phone
6+ months of general office experience (preferably medical office)
Intermediate level of computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail systems, and web-based programs
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of medical insurance/authorization and coding experience in surgery scheduling or related healthcare positions
Soft Skills :
Ability to prepare reports and routine business correspondence
Ability to interact and communicate with a variety of people, both on a one-on-one basis and in meetings and group presentations; must be able to relate to and work with ill, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile people
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to follow direction
Ability to think logically in order to troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make appropriate decisions
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
Ability to stand and sit for periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday
Strong sensory skills, such as visual acuity, good hearing, and dexterity
Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift, move, and/or carry up to 15 pounds with or without assistance

Ability to perform focused work with close attention to detail
Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines, and phones
Ability to interact with others, both in person and through phone, e-mail, and written correspondence
