The Position
The Weights and Measures Assistant perform unskilled tasks associated with the inspection and certification of all commercial weighing and measuring devices and sampling gasoline and diesel fuel quality in order to protect the economic interests of consumers and merchants in the State.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture, Division of Measurement Standards is seeking to fill a vacant seasonal Weight & Measures Assistant position in the Sparks office. The Weights & Measures Assistant performs unskilled tasks associated with the inspection and certification of commercial weighing and measuring devices and sampling gasoline and diesel fuel in order to protect the economic interests of consumers and merchants in the State. These positions are anticipated for up to 6 months. This is a temporary seasonal position that will assist staff with the duties involving inspection and certification of small and large capacity scales and meters. The incumbent will also assist in the maintenance of weights. Assist staff in performing petroleum inspections; obtain samples for laboratory analysis and test fuel dispensers. Assist staff in performing preventive and minor maintenance of equipment; and maintain records of equipment servicing. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of general work experience.Special Requirements
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. Travel across the State is required more than 50% of the time.
