The Position

Manufactured Housing Inspectors are responsible for the Statewide inspection of manufactured homes, commercial coaches, mobile homes, mobile home parks and other manufactured buildings upon installation; the review of construction plans and specifications for manufactured buildings; the inspection and certification of the facilities, production and quality control processes of manufactured building manufacturers; the enforcement of code and regulatory compliance for projects involving manufactured structures; and the investigation of complaints against manufactured housing dealers, manufacturers, servicepersons and mobile home parks.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is a Manufactured Housing Inspector 1 for the Department of Business and Industry, Housing Division, located in the Carson City area. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting and coordinating inspection-related activities for manufactured structures regulated by the Housing Division. The role involves ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, maintaining accurate records, and providing assistance to the public, licensees, and government agencies. It also contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of permitting and inspection processes through collaboration, analysis, and customer service. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Associate's degree from an accredited college, university or trade school in the building trades, fire science, or closely related field; OR two years of experience as a general construction contractor, a plans examiner or building inspector in a local government entity, or a quality assurance inspector in a manufactured housing plant; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
