The Position

Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

This opening is for an IT Technician 4 within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Information Services unit, in Carson City NV. This position acts as 1st tier support for the DHCFP help desk through incoming phone calls and ticketing system and escalates issues to senior IT staff as needed. Performs routine maintenance on end user workstations; troubleshoots user hardware/software issues and provides introductory/ongoing training to users for agency approved software and systems. Assists with adding and removing users from Windows Active Directory and configuring access controls including the agencies C-CURE system. Assists users with identifying and reporting malicious or potentially threatening email using KnowBe4 PhishER platform. Candidate must be proficient in 0365 and related applications such as Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, Excel and Word. This position is also responsible for assisting users with video conferencing solutions such as Webex, Zoom, Teams using Team Rooms and assists with updating agency Internet (EkTron) site as needed. This position requires up to 50% travel between Carson City and Reno. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
