United States Fleet Forces Command QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in Naval Shipyard, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Quality Assurance Manager (Code 900Q), Production Department Analysis & Business Manager (Code 900A), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will conduct internal program, process, and ship overhaul audits to identify quality problems and opportunities for improvements. You will conduct investigations of reported equipment/systems failures to identify responsible parties, root causes and corrective actions needed to prevent recurrence. You will conduct studies of work processes by collecting, sorting, grouping, and analyzing process data for quality trends. You will review and analyze all discrepancy and withhold reports, production rework reports and recommend corrective action to prevent recurrence. You will review/comment on shipyard instructions related to quality assurance policies and program requirements. You will develop/revise work documentation forms and process control procedures to improve conduct reliability. You will recommend quality improvements to shop management based on lessons learned from audits, investigations analysis, and special studies results. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience analyzing data by reviewing, trending, and comparing through validation of information, metrics, root cause/causal analysis, learning events, and other tools such as pivot tables, graphs, etc. Experience reporting findings or recommendations to appropriate level of management. Experience communicating verbally or providing written documents, formal replies to audits, assessments, critiques, etc. Experience conducting shop audits to identify and recommend quality improvements to shop management. Experience conducting internal studies of work processes by collecting, sorting, grouping and analyzing process data for quality trends. Experience communicating improvement opportunities to management and suggesting process improvement initiatives used to support the quality.
