Summary You will serve as a Large Shock Test Program Lead in the Safety Branch of the Corporate Operations Department of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12. The NT-3 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-09 and GS-10. Salary: NT-3 $61,333 - $96,977 NT-4 $74,600 - $127,707 Responsibilities You will assist in the management of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport Safety programs. You will serve as Safety Inspector who conducts site visits of all work areas at the Newport site and detachments. You will investigate accidents, provides findings in written reports to Division Newport leadership and the Navy Safety Center to include lessons learned and mitigations to prevent similar accidents from occurring. You will provide information on mishaps to external regulatory agencies such as OSHA as required. You will investigate routine safety trouble calls and coordinates corrective action. You will review hazardous Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance and that hazardous operations are mitigated to eliminate or reduce the hazards. You will review new building and building renovation plans to ensure compliance with Safety and Occupational Health statutes and regulations. You will manage programs and assist in other Safety and Occupational Health programs as a back-up using their extensive knowledge and training. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For the NT-4: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-3 pay band (GS-09/10 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: interpreting and applying occupational safety and health principles, practices, procedures, and standards to investigate accidents and mishaps, identify hazards, and develop reports to prevent further incidents or mishaps for an organization. For the NT-3: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-2 pay band (GS-05/08 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: interpreting and applying occupational safety and health principles, practices, procedures, and standards to review accidents or mishaps and identify hazards for an organization. Education In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Substitution of Education for the NT-03: Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree. Or Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree. Or Have obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled. Or Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Substitution of Education for the NT-04: Have successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree. Or Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree. Or Have obtained an LL.M if related Or Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
