Job Summary: The Treatment Plant Technician and Compliance Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations, maintenance, and monitoring associated with the Stormwater/Wastewater Treatment Facility (SWTF) and collection system. Assists with regulatory monitoring, sample collection, and environmental compliance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Follows Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety principles to maintain safe operation of water treatment facility.
  • Schedules and conducts regular inspections and minor maintenance of mechanical valves, pumps, slide gates, flow control piping, aerators, return sludge pumping system, and other equipment.
  • Conducts monthly inspections of spill gates, including remote operation, and schedules maintenance as required.
  • Regularly inspects debris racks on storm water conveyances and spill gates and schedules cleaning when necessary.
  • Maintains effective internal and external working relationships with employees, tenants, contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Provides assistance when needed to escort contractors and consultants.
  • Records inspection and maintenance activities in the MNAA Environmental Management System.
  • Conducts sampling and analysis of wastewater and surface water.
  • Works with outside consultants.
  • Supports storm water compliance inspections.
  • Works with maintenance staff and equipment manufacturers during routine and emergency equipment maintenance.
  • Supports inspection and maintenance of MNAA fill sites.
  • Coordinates and provides oversight for cleaning and inspection of treatment plant impoundment liners.
  • Operates treatment system controls equipment, including programmable logic controllers and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular on-time attendance.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of related experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS B
  • Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) (within180 days)
  • Tennessee Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Program certification (Within 180 days)

Preferred:

  • 4-7 years of related experience.
  • OSHA - Level II Spill Response (within 90 days)
  • OSHA - Confined Space Entry (within 90 days)
