Summary

This position is within First Horizon’s Corporate Banking group. The Corporate Banker will cover middle market C&I companies with revenues typically in excess of $100 Million. The Specialty Relationship Manager SR is the central contact person for credit-based clients and prospects and is responsible for the delivery and cross-sell of First Horizon’s products and services through effective partnership with key product, credit and corporate banking partners. The role involves developing and presenting origination pitches to clients and prospects, leading appropriate transaction processes, and collaborating with product partners such as Treasury Management, Loan Syndications, Debt Capital Markets, Equipment Finance, etc. to deliver the bank’s product suite.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Originating and developing new business through new and existing client relationships

  • Maintaining an updated qualified prospect list that aligns with bank’s client selection and risk management metrics

  • Leveraging an established group of COIs to obtain referrals and customer sourcing, while continually working to grow this network

  • Managing a portfolio of credit and non-credit relationships of varying size and complexity

  • Creating and managing strategic, long-term relationships with client decision makers (CEO, CFO, Treasurers, Private Equity Group Partners and Principals, etc.)

  • Participating in client meetings, planning sessions and product partner meetings

  • Partnering effectively with portfolio management team and credit colleagues to identify and mitigate credit risks, make recommendations on appropriate credit structure, and effectively articulate recommendations to clients and prospects, while expanding relationships and growing the overall portfolio

  • Additional responsibilities as directed by the Corporate Banking leadership team

Qualifications Include

  • 5-10 years of generalist middle market or corporate banking experience with at least 3 years of active origination of bilateral loans and /or execution of syndicated loans

  • Active calling relationships with syndications desks for club transaction will be advantageous

  • Experience with syndicated credit documents and financial sponsor owned companies

  • Strong ability to assess credit and manage risk effectively

  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, with highly developed written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence others by persuasively presenting thoughts and ideas to gain commitment and agreement for proposed solutions

  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional service in managing a client portfolio that includes market protection and retention, sales, and cross-selling appropriate banking services

  • Network of client contacts and COIs

  • Demonstrated positive management/leadership skills and principles

  • Proven ability to lead by example and effectively manage a deal team

  • Bachelor’s degree is required for consideration (or equivalent experience). Masters preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
