Lake Superior Consulting, LLC Field Technician in Nashville, Tennessee

We embrace diverse backgrounds and have employees with a variety of experience in these roles currently (education, physics, criminology, environmental studies, geology.) We are enthusiastic about training the right candidates! This position requires 75% travel (anywhere in the U.S.). As an hourly employee, you can anticipate significant overtime while traveling for a project. You'll travel by airline, in a company-provided vehicle, or on your own (receiving mileage compensation and a daily truck rate), as well as per diem allowances.

Our CP Technicians are empowered by learning directly from our in-house experts to hone their skills and grow their own careers. This position is the entry level path to pursuing CP and AC mitigation design and engineering, developing subject matter expertise, and advanced industry certifications (Cathodic Protection Specialist) . Industry certification is possible within 6 months of onboarding.

OurCathodic Protection Technicians work with the CP systems by installing, commissioning, monitoring, evaluating, maintaining and repairing various assets. The Cathodic Protection Technician is responsible for ensuring systems are operated in compliance with all industry procedures and applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations. This role involves signifcant travel and field work.

Responsibilities:

  • Work safely by adhering to LSC and client guidelines and procedures
  • Prepare for planned cathodic protection projects
  • Complete and maintain operator qualifications (OQs)
  • Operate and use testing equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting on cathodic protection systems
  • Gather data, and prepare records and reports in a timely manner
  • Install, maintain and repair components of a cathodic protection system
  • Ensure your work is utilized with respect to company goals
  • Work in compliance with all technical procedures and guidelines

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or associate degrees preferred - High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience with land survey, navigation, interpretation of engineering designs, mechanical repair, IT, and/or construction a plus.
  • Ability to travel extensively for physically demanding work in an outdoor environment
  • Capability to operate a company vehicle, ATV-UTV, and use general hand/power tools
  • Must have strong critical thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting abilities
  • Commitment to working safely and producing high quality, ethical service
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Highly motivated and thrives in a dynamic, team-based environment
  • Desire to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and management; locally and through other office locations
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Desire to learn and understand basic cathodic protection
  • Interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and build positive working relationships
  • Well organized and ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to learn applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements (CFR 49 Part 192 and 195)
  • Willingness to learn AMPP standards and test method
  • Ability to use computers and typical office equipment
