House of Blues Bartender - Brooklyn Bowl Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee

Job Summary:

Brooklyn Bowl Nashville is the ultimate night out, with state-of-the-art sound and lighting, 19 premier bowling lanes, 4 bars and comfort food.

The Role:

Bartender - Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food to guests in a friendly, efficient, professional manner. This is a part-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with guests in a natural, friendly demeanor

  • Cultivate regular guests and repeat business

  • Successfully complete a pour test prior to every shift

  • Suggestively sell both beverages and menu items to guests at the bar

  • Deliver food items and beverage orders promptly

  • Prioritize and organize drink orders

  • Consistently prepare beverages according to standard recipes and venue specifications, abide by all control systems

  • Record any equipment failure and/or safety hazards in bar log

  • Recognize when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further service of alcohol in a courteous and safety-minded manner, bringing it to the attention of a manager

  • Ensure responsible alcohol service per ABC guidelines and Brooklyn Bowl alcohol policies

  • Request proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of age

  • Maintain Brooklyn Bowl safety and sanitation standards

  • Perform Opening/Running/Closing duties according to Brooklyn Bowl policy

  • Prepare guest checks (on point of sales terminal) and process payment according to Brooklyn Bowl policy

  • Maintain bartender bank

  • Perform cash pull / check out procedures

  • Maintain appropriate Comp and Spill checks

  • Knowledge of Health Code and ABC regulations and understanding of compliance

  • Required to occasionally work Special Events that are scheduled throughout the venue

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid ABC Card required

  • Minimum of 1-year experience as a bartender

  • Will be lifting 20-50 pounds repeatedly

  • Must possess basic reading, writing and mathematical skills

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

  • Ability to work later hours

  • Strong knowledge of alcohol mixology, drink menus and classic cocktail preparation

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work closely and efficiently with others

  • Performing reaching and stooping motions repeatedly

  • Accurately measure ingredients for mixing drinks

  • Move throughout the bar and venue areas during the entire shift

  • Work in an environment with loud music, smoke and crowds for extended periods of time

  • Stand or in a stationary position for entire shift

  • Ability to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety minded manner

  • Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms

Preferred:

  • 4 years work experience in high volume environment

  • High School diploma or GED preferred

  • Experience in a live music environment

  • Experience working in a high-volume restaurant, bar or entertainment venue preferred

  • Positive, friendly attitude

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

  • Working environment is fast-paced, often loud and stressful

  • Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feet
