Summary About the Position: You will function as an Administrative Support Assistant in performing a wide range of specialized administrative work for a diverse, technically complex and geographically dispersed organization. This position is located in Nashville, TN. Responsibilities Oversee the handling, typing, distribution, and filing of communications and reports. Prepare responses to correspondence which are of administrative or financial interest, or general correspondence. Perform cost analysis regarding methods of travel and make appropriate travel arrangements. Create, coordinate, and process Requests for Personnel Actions (RPAs) using the automated system. Coordinate actions or provides guidance on problems affecting personnel/pay matters for assigned personnel. Prepare travel estimates and orders, and processes travel vouchers for assigned personnel. Prepare and process training requests, tracks completed training, and maintains accurate training records. Perform time and attendance responsibilities for a large organization. To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which performing a variety of office administrative assistance duties such as office automation work, personnel administration, supply management, reports preparation and general administrative functions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: Successfully completed a half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business, Business Administration, or Business Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative duties for pay issues, personnel management activities, shift work, and complex travel issues; preparing and processing training requests, tracks completed training, and maintains accurate training records; maintaining a Government Purchase Card (GPC) Holder for required training and qualification; using personal computers, database management, and civilian personnel automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business, Business Administration, or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and Management Communications Computer Skills Reporting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent. GS-06: 52 weeks at GS-05. GS-07: 52 weeks at GS-06. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
