Trinity Health Relief Radiation Therapist in Muskegon, Michigan

Position Summary:

Assists physicians by treating patients with prescribed doses of ionizing radiation supplied and controlled through specialized radiation equipment according to established policies. Prepares treatment room, explains procedures to patients, positions patients, and administers treatments. Monitors patients during therapy sessions in order to ensure patients’ comfort and to observe changes in patients’ condition.

What you will do:

  • Reviews patient’s medical charts for prescription, treatment time and prescribed dose. Confers with physicians as necessary to clarify orders.

  • Prepares treatment room and equipment according to established procedure. Explains procedures to patients in order to ease fear and elicit cooperation. Informs patients of possible treatment reactions and advises on care of irradiated body areas.

  • Positions patients under equipment in order to expose diseased body areas to ionizing radiation treatment and to protect all other body areas from radiation according to procedure and required standards of accuracy.

  • Observes patients during procedures and reports any change in condition, psychological or physiological, to physician or other appropriate patient care personnel.

What you will need:

  • ARRT: Registration required as a Radiation Therapy Technologist.

  • Graduated from an accredited program: Associate degree in Radiography or c. Closely related field.

  • The analytical ability to resolve complex problems requiring the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in-depth, experienced-based knowledge.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
