Murray State University Student Financial Services Compliance Coordinator in Murray, Kentucky
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The compliance coordinator is responsible for student employment and ensuring that the student financial services area remains in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Oversee and manage the student employment program, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, federal work-study guidelines, and other relevant regulations. Maintain educational resources and adherence to laws related to student employment.
Monitoring I-9 regulations and ensure procedures are meeting requirements.
Monthly reconciliation of Payroll to Workstudy eligibility.
Continuous monitoring of Federal Workstudy to ensure jobs are filled timely and make adjustments as needed to award Federal Workstudy positions to other areas if jobs are not being utilized.
Audit student refunds to ensure compliance with federal Title IV regulations, and prepare monthly escheating reports to ensure Title IV funds are returned timely.
Perform monthly audits on a random sample of the following financial aid compliance issues:
Return of unearned Title IV aid (R2T2) after students withdraw from courses.
Dependency overrides and professional judgement.
Satisfactory Academic Progress ( SAP ) appeals.
Liaison with Community Service supervisors for student employment.
Maintain compliance with Consumer Disclosure requirements mandated by federal regulations.
Work with Associate Director of Student Financial Services on individual training of all staff on regulatory changes.
Review Athletic awards to ensure that scholarships paid agree with award letters signed by the Director of Student Financial Services.
Participant of the Tuition appeal committee.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a business-related field.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
Three years’ minimum experience with regulatory guidelines or state or federal compliance.
Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication.
Must have the ability to exercise sound decision-making and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently.
Must be proficient in MS Office Suite, as well as general systems applications.
Must demonstrate initiative, integrity and ability to manage confidential information.
Must have exceptional customer service skills.
Must have the ability to work cooperatively with others.
